I designed a luminaire that celebrates Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire & volcanoes.
It captures the duality between her beauty and (tempermental) destructiveness by contrasting soft, smooth lighting, reflections, and materiality against violently-textured, high-contrast grazing of light.
